Our Minority Owner is Hotter Than Your Minority Owner

Lately the Miami Dolphins have been adding several minority owners to the franchise, including Gloria Estefan, Mark Anthony and Jennifer Lopez, along with Jimmy Buffet. But the best has to be the gorgeous Fergie from the Black Eyed Peas, who also produced the following video which ran on the Jumbotron at home games this year:

Best Movie Monologues of All Time

This entry can be a real gold mine and I’m sure I’ll add more as comments come in or others come to mind, but these are the best movie monolgues that you have to hear to believe. Needless to say, this post is full of NSFW language.

Alec Baldwin has a God Complex, and it is awesome:

Christian Bale in American Psycho starts to fall apart over business card envy:

Samuel L. Jackson shows in Pulp Fiction why he is the scariest man alive:

In this motivational speech from Full Metal Jacket, our favorite drill sergeant makes the list:

Speaking of the military, can you handle the truth? Jack Nicholson doesn’t think so:

Aragorn’s speech at the Black Gates stands as one of Hollywood’s all-time great calls to war:

Ben Affleck owns the introductory sales pitch in Boiler Room:

Many thought the Affleck scene in Boiler Room was in fact an homage to an earlier classic from the film Glengarry Glen Ross, once again featuring the great Alec Baldwin:

Michael Douglas as Gordon Gekko stands in the movie monologue Hall of Fame for his scene from Wall Street:

And finally, here’s what it’s all about – 40 inspirational speeches in 2 minutes:

What a long, strange trip it’s been…

RaidersOfTheLostArk_4

It’s funny to realize after speaking with someone I haven’t seen since high school (Hi, Kedron!) that at times like this – when I describe my life – I realize it has been.. “colorful”.

The Air Force, traveling coast-to-coast across the country several times, surfing in San Diego, some nasty scrapes with the law, living in my car (briefly, yet more than once), starting several businesses (including one successful enough to buy my first home and live well), nearly go bankrupt, exploring the aftermath of Hurricane Katrina for salvageable sailboats, nearly drowned in Florida (on three different occasions.. I really gotta stay out of the water), was impaled on a sea wall; bought a boat on land, learned how to sail and put it into the water and lived on it; shot in the chest by a .357 Magnum and survived (obviously), had the best years of my life attending Moravian College dropping acid and chasing girls, lost everything I owned and down to my last $300 a few months ago — and find myself once more crawling out of the dirt to do it all over again with a fresh start.

Basically, my life is like Indiana Jones.. but fatter and without the cool soundtrack.

Star Trek Online MMO Beta is coming

The new Star Trek MMO is now going into Beta and I applied to join. I’m not sure why I’m so pumped to sign up, it’s not like I have any free time anymore for gaming. I don’t even play EVE Online much at all, any more.

But it looks pretty good and is due out in the first quarter of 2010, so who knows? Maybe I’ll have my life back together by then. In the meantime, check out the trailer they’ve put together.

Another Fins Collapse

dolphins

I’ve been a fan of the Miami Dolphins since I was a kid and there have been some good and bad. OK, other than Dan Marino, mostly bad. And even with #13 we collapsed under bad drafts and big-game chokes more often than not.

I’d hoped this year would be different but adding another chapter to what is becoming a miserable month, my beloved Fins just gagged on a 21-point lead to the New Orleans Saints, showing once again that in Miami, nothing much ever changes.

The Arrogance of Clergy

Woot, it’s a grubby day outside but we are smiling in the light of some sweet, sunny wisdom from our own Pat Condell. He hasn’t posted a new vid in a awhile, but believe me this one was worth the wait.

If you’ve never watched any other video I’ve ever posted, I dare you to watch just this one and see how good this fellow really is.

Lovely Bones Trailer

This looks amazing. It’s the first film by director Peter Jackson following his Lord of the Rings masterpiece trilogy. Adapted from the novel, this looks to be a remarkable film about a girl who is raped and murdered, yet maintains a connection to the living world, watching over her family.

Leonard Cohen – In My Secret Life

lcohen

A lot on my mind today as I find myself at the first crossroads of my trading career, discarding an old strategy and trying to learn (gulp) three new ones. My efforts so far have been decidedly mixed and some discouragement is setting in. However, even with the sky typically overcast on yet another Pennsylvania day, I find I must stay the course. There simply are no other alternatives; I must excel at this, it is what I feel I am destined to do.

It is always on days like this I find my thoughts drawn as murky as the gray sky. Listening to the collection of Leonard Cohen music I had on my HD (which I have not heard in a long time), I recall how much IĀ  felt the emotion of this song.
