My brother just got into a fantasy football league for the new NFL season. He is drafting his team tomorrow morning and wanted to pass along his information. NFL.com is sponsoring these leagues and is providing prizes for the winners in each league. Best of all, the leagues are free to join! Jason’s league is the Shoalin Dynasty League and his team is the Queen City Outlaws.

Well, it’s week 4 of the Fantasy Season and the Shaolin Dynasty League is shaping up poorly for the Q.C. Outlaws. After a severe beating of the DeathScythes17 in week 3, 80 to 46, the Outlaws were again narrowly defeated by the Juniata Wingohockers, 84 to 71. We are hoping for a much better showing next week against the vegasputers (2-2). The alkaholics (4-0) are the only remaining undefeated team in the league and we are scheduled to meet them in week 9. We are currently 1-2-1, 2.5 games back with 289 points for, and 274 points allowed (fantasy points).
The Outlaws are ranked 5th of 12 in overall defense, 7th of 12 in overall offense with Marc Bulger as the 4th leading quarterback, Steven Jackson as the 4th leading running back, Dallas Clark as the 6th leading tight-end and Nate Kaeding as the 5th leading place kicker overall. These stats make The Outlaws 7th overall in league standing.

Is that Juniata as in Juniata St?

I’m not sure about that.
Anyway, it’s week 7 in the Shaolin Dynasty League. The Outlaws, of the Central Division, are now ranked 2nd in the division with a 3-2 and 1 record. The old adage of “any given sunday” has new meaning this week. The Steelers offense has been shaky so far this season, so the Jets’ starting receiver Coles, was favored over Hines Ward. What a big mistake. Ward had 171 yrds. receiving, on 8 catches, with 3 TDs to be the weekly receiving leader of the NFL! Coles was in more of a 3rd receiver role because of the weak Lions’ secondary (minimal team input). Roethlisgberger came in to cover for Bulger’s bye week and what a game “Big Ben” had! Before being literally K.O.d out of the game, number 7 was on par for a near 400 yrd day. He completed 16 of 22 passes, for 238 yrds with 3 TDs and no picks (all in only 2 1/2 quarters)!
The real problem is, Roethlisberger’s concussion situation is unknown at this time. Since the Rams will be playing again this week, the offense will have it’s regular depth options with Steven Jackson and Marc Bulger back in the starting lineup.
In other news, Ahman Greene has been released to free agent status. This comes after a debate over his possible effectiveness since his last leg injury (one of many). It’s been rumored that Green Bay may be looking into limiting his carries for the rest of the season anyway (playoff dreams for Favre are dim), with their 2-4 record giving way to running the rookies and backups. Najeh Davenport, backup for Pittsburgh’s Willie Parker, has taken on the roll as 3rd RB behind Tatum Bell (#2) and Jackson as the starter.
Offensive ranking: 1st overall
Defensive ranking: 7th overall
Kicking ranking: 2nd overall
Current power ranking: 4th
Overall League ranking: 4th
Stay tuned for more weekly updates!
