Site News & Updates 9/16/06

Hey everybody! Just checking in here to let everyone know that I’m still working on the photo galleries and home videos. The plug-in I have supposedly can organize my photos into galleries for the blog. However, I can’t seem to get it to work. So for some smaller galleries, I may just put three or four pictures, individually thumbnailed.

I am going to get all the home videos up, probably today. But I will not post them individually on this homepage; instead, look for them in the sidebar menu under Home Videos. Their timestamp will be for earlier this summer, so they won’t show up on the homepage.

lance4.jpgAs for what’s new, I just picked up a well-regarded course on selling information products and courses on eBay. I know what you’re thinking, but I’ve done this before, and it looks like this guy has something good to say.

Although I’ve been selling e-books for years online, I’ve never tried doing so with eBay. Up until just recently, eBay disallowed selling such information products through their site. I’m thinking of contacting Lance and seeing if I can affiliate his courses through this system. Perhaps we both can make a lot of money.

Then I intend to go back to the casinos and have some more fun. I really miss playing Blackjack. I’ve also been hearing a lot of good things about online slots. Most of the posters on Casino Meister, who post winning screenshots, do so from their progressive slots games. Just plain one dollar — or even one penny — slots can be fun, cheap and surprisingly rewarding.

Anyway, as always, I will continue to update the site with new dynamic content. I just picked up another cool game for the Xbox 360 (below), and there are even more great titles coming out in the weeks ahead. I hope that as many of you as possible pick up a 360 for yourselves and join the fun online! My Xbox Live Gamertag is: Tailgun.

Enya - May It Be

It’s a rainy day here in the Northeast and I’m feeling a little overcast; not dreary, just thoughtful. To match the mood of this quiet afternoon, give a listen to the original theme song from the first Lord of the Rings movie, The Fellowship of the Ring. Man, this song brings back memories of the film - I really have to watch this trilogy again, it’s been like a year since I saw it last.

My brother just got into a fantasy football league for the new NFL season. He is drafting his team tomorrow morning and wanted to pass along his information. NFL.com is sponsoring these leagues and is providing prizes for the winners in each league. Best of all, the leagues are free to join! Jason’s league is the Shoalin Dynasty League and his team is the Queen City Outlaws.

Check out the Fantasy Football League page at NFL.com here to register.

First Ever Podcast: September 12th, 2006

Hello world!  Here I am with my first ever pod cast.  The technology isn’t too complicated, but it has taken some time to get all the ducks in a row.  I’m dictating the text of this post using Dragon NaturallySpeaking 8.  I had to reinstall this program since Florida, and I have to say it’s working much better than before.  There have been hardly any dictation errors, and I really think it’s going to save me a lot of time adding content.

Anyway, the podcast set up is pretty simple.  I’m going to dictate into Audacity and take the resulting MP3 and stream it from the servers here.  The same as I would a song.  I’m still going to write articles, especially brief ones, for the site by hand or using Dragon.  But being able to dictate verbally is a real nice plus — especially for a longer entry.

So let’s let her rip.  Here’s the podcast for September 12, 2006 detailing this past summer and fall.  And what’s in store for the immediate future.

Peter Jackson Dragon Movie ‘Temeraire’

Peter Jackson is eyeing his next fantasy series. The filmmaker has dipped into his discretionary fund to option “Temeraire,” a historical fantasy series by first-time novelist Naomi Novik, as he puts the pieces together for his career post-”King Kong.”

The “Temeraire” saga reimagines the world of the Napoleonic Wars with the addition of an air force of dragons and valiant aviators. It centers on British naval Capt. Will Laurence, who captures a French ship, where he discovers an unhatched dragon egg in the hold — a gift from the Emperor of China intended for Napoleon. When the egg hatches, he is forced to give up his naval career to become captain of the dragon he names Temeraire.

” ‘Temeraire’ is a terrific meld of two genres that I particularly love — fantasy and historical epic,” Jackson said. “I can’t wait to see Napoleonic battles fought with a squadron of dragons. That’s what I go to the movies for.”

MGM Plans Terminator 4 & The Hobbit

MGM chairman-CEO Harry Sloan is moving the studio aggressively into the tentpole business with two or three big-budget releases a year reports Variety.

Over the next few years, MGM is planning to release half a dozen films, some in the $150 million to $200 million-plus range. Studio is ready to unveil such high-profile projects as “Terminator 4″; one or two installments of “The Hobbit,” which Sloan hopes will be directed by Peter Jackson; and a sequel to “The Thomas Crown Affair” with Pierce Brosnan.

The studio has already announced a “Pink Panther” sequel and the next 007 pic “Bond 22,” due out in November 2008. “Rocky Balboa” unspools in February.

OK Go - You’re So Damn Hot

What a great song I heard on the Web the other day! Thought I’d share it with you. Never heard of OK Go, but I’ll have to look them up; they have a real Fountains of Wayne quality.

Still Working on Photo Galleries

I finally have my plugins for images and Flash popup (check out the Ren Faire pic below). But I still haven’t a solution in place for doing a whole gallery of pics. So that’s why I’m still lagging behind on putting up more stuff of friends, family and whatnot.

New Casino Royale HD Trailer

The new Bond film has really stirred up a lot of controversy with its “reset” of the franchise back to the original ‘origin’ story of James Bond, Casino Royale. The casting of fair-haired, kinda thugsy-looking Daniel Craig (Layer Cake, Munich) outraged purists, while others chastised the Broccolis for trying to chase the Bourne audience.

Well, it looks like they were wrong. Yeah, I know it’s just a trailer. But I’m pretty good at seeing through sucky films disguised by kickass trailers and trust me - this is a kickass trailer for a kickass movie.

Lost out on my Chartplotters on eBay

This past week I’ve been trying to win an auction on the eBay Reseller’s Marketplace for a lot of GPS Chartplotters. I was high bidder until the last minute when the auction went wild, far beyond my best offer. I was really counting on getting this one; all the distributors I’ve been wading through on Alibaba have been phony.

I’m not sure what i can do next. I’ve not had an income since I sold the boat last month and have spent/lost a lot of bread, thousands of dollars, actually. Yours truly needs a revenue stream, kids. The walls are starting to close in…..

Oh well, back to the music and videos!
