Well I thought that I would let you know that lil Becky has made it all the way to New Zealand…. I’m one of a few people that has heard the Demolition Company call, but I am sure that very soon it will be heard throughout NZ and loved by all… I wish that I could download her so I can send her on to the big radio stations here… Thanks for giving a Kiwi girl a huge laugh!!!

Made it to Utah. Brings me a wee bit of home. I have forwarded it to my friends and they love it too. Now my friends understand what I mean about how the Irish don’t get so offended about things and have a wonderful sense of humor. If that was done here in the states (the one about demolishing the school) they would have police involved and sending you to counseling.

Got the “School Demo Man” clip sent to me on e-mail yesterday afternoon and listened to it with some of my work colleagues. Laughed so much that we ended up on the floor for about 20 mins, before e-maling it around the whole office who in turn pretty much did the same thing.
This girl is pure magic and its great to see a web page for her with more clips on it.

A friend sent this to me here in New Mexico USA and I loved it and played it over several times. What a great little girl she is. Her parents have to be proud as hell of her.
But what made it the more funny was that the demolision men were enjoying it just as much as she was. I guess it is that sense of humor that the Irish have that mad it work so well.
I am not sure it would work as well here in the USA, just too many up tight people that can’t seem to let themselves have a little fun.
But becky, you are a real treasure.

My brother, Eoin, sent this to me last week. I can’t recall where he got it from, but he’s in Calgary, AB, Canada. I live near Vancouver, BC, Canada. Becky is the epitome of Irish wit. She’s amazingly articulate, perceptible, and well-spoken for being just 8 years old. If she was syndicated on radio or television, I’d be a regular viewer. Sorry to pop your balloons, everyone, but it’s digitally enhanced. I.E. script translated into words. There are a number of programs available, and the prerecorded words come in varying accents, ages and can be either male or female. If you listen to the introduction where the voice says “No, I’m sick of it, so I rang a demolition company in Nuery and got through to Steven.” it gives it away completely.

Well, JD, sorry to pop your balloon - but you are wrong. Becky is a very much a real girl and her calls are entirely authentic. It’s true she is coached a bit and has some questions written down for her ahead of time, but she most certainly is a very real 8-year old girl from Dublin, Ireland.
I have been in contact with her family through her brother and they are quite overwhelmed by the amount of coverage their ‘wee little one’ has garnered around the world. You might note her mother replied a few posts above this one.

Sorry, John, but I’m not convinced. I have no doubt that the little girl exists, and that it may even be her voice fed into a script translation program, but to me the calls sound prefabricated.
I’m not trying to be a spoilsport here, and if what you say about knowing the family is true, then I stand corrected. But these communications, John, are just words on a website. For all I know, you are a part of the radio station that is promoting this thing. And as for the mother’s comment, I saw a comment on there from the little girl, as well. It all seems too convenient if you ask me.
It just isn’t ringing true, and as cute as it all is, I’d need to see proof before I change my way of thinking.
